Transport Assistance Scheme

This was initiated in 2008-2009. As part of the programme, KKPKP provided bicycles to 28 girls in Class VIII and IX and bicycles to 6 girls in high school. Our database shows that the age of drop outs from school is Standard VIII. This is usually when children move from Municipal Corporation Schools, located within their communities, to private schools that are far away from where they live.

Over the years, the nature of this initiative has changed and from a pure grant to the students, the parents now contribute to a part of the cycles. In 2015-16, 34 cycles were given to children of waste pickers . Two parents, who are representatives of the education programme, also took cycles for themselves.
