Notebooks

As part of one of oldest initiatives, the sanghathana distributes notebooks to all the member-children who receive formal education. This initiative began once the members started sending their children to schools but many of them did not have the resources to buy notebooks to ensure their children have all the writing material required for school.

Over the years, the situation has changed. Government schools are supposed to provide children with a list of school supplies, text books, uniforms every academic year. Caught between the bureaucracy and tenders, this material rarely comes on time and in most schools, notebooks are still not provided to the children.

Each year, the sanghathana distributes notebooks to about 2500 children. A part of this money is now raised by us directly and the remaining comes through donations from our friends and supporters.
